Anchisaurus is a genus of basal sauropodomorph, and was a herbivorous dinosaur. It lived during the Early Jurassic period around 200 to 188 million years ago. Until recently it was classed as a member of the Prosauropoda. Anchisaurus was a rather small dinosaur, with a length of just over 2 meters (6.6 ft) and probably around 27 kilograms (60 lb). It was hunted by Syntarsus and Dilophosaurus.
In When Dinosaurs Roamed America[]
In the early Jurassic segment, a male Anchisaurus feeds on the trees. But then, a pack of Syntarsus is seen hunting the Anchisaurus. One of the predators gets hurt and maybe killed in the process. The pack chases the family of Anchisaurus and corners the male. But just as they prepare for the kill, a Dilophosaurus takes over the hunt. She roars at the Anchisaurus. Then she grabs the basal sauropodform's neck with her teeth and slashes him with her hand claws. Then, she forces the Anchisaurus down and kills him. Later, a pair of Anchisaurus see their leader being eaten by another Dilophosaurus. The Narrator says they will evolve into the mighty sauropods like Camarasaurus and Apatosaurus.
Trivia[]
Anchisaurus's upright stance kinda makes it resemble Nothronychus.
Errors[]
- Anchisaurus is shown to be larger than Syntarsus, but in real life it was probably quite the opposite.
